AKPABIO A DESTABILISING AGENT: Akwa Ibom APC Elders Warn Buhari Against Nominating Godswill Akpabio Minister

Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State have warned President Muhammadu Buhari against shortlisting Senator Godswill Akpabio for ministerial appointment.

The president will take another oath of office at his inauguration on Wednesday, May 29 for his second term of four years.

Consequently, the group, Ibom Integrity and Servant Leadership Culture Initiative, in a letter to the president, said an appointment for Akpabio would be an open invitation to the crisis in the state.

The letter entitled, ‘Ministerial Appointment: Why Appointing Akpabio Maybe Counter Productive’, was signed by the Executive Vice President of the group, Dr. Asuquo Edidem Etim, and copied to the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, the secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and the chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari.

The letter tagged Akpabio as a “destabilising agent”.

Akpabio, who is a former governor of the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), only defected to the ruling APC shortly before the 2019 general election in which he contested to return to the Senate but lost.

The group stated that the “same Senator Akpabio that in years past had been yours and our party’s nemesis cannot suddenly become the gadfly of your political generosity”.

According to them, “Akwa Ibom State boasts of men of immense integrity who can fit into the ministerial positions to help realise the Next Level agenda of the APC government”.

Part of the letter reads: “Mr President, this second mandate affords you the opportunity to select your ministers in a manner that will ensure that they do not become liabilities to your government or dent your impeccable image.

“Characters with known corruption allegations or propensity for pettiness, mischief, treachery, profligacy and vendetta, should be avoided. Senator Godswill Akpabio, unfortunately, is one of such integrity deficient individuals.

“Akpabio is a destabilising agent. The poor showing of APC in Akwa Ibom State in the last general election was to a large extent as a result of the destabilising and authoritarian tendencies of Senator Akpabio, who only believes that it’s either his way or nobody’s.

“Many had thought that his joining APC would bring cool breeze of good fortunes to the party in the state, but rather his highhanded nature and disrespect for internal democracy in the party and the will of the people to choose their leaders, became a raging storm that uprooted the recognised structures of the party right from the grassroots, as he imposed party leaders from the wards and even unit levels. Leaving many party men and women very bruised, trampled and disgruntled. This sadly affected the chances of our governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere”, the group alleged.

While noting that Akwa Ibom has many “respectable, level-headed” personalities that would represent the state with grace at the federal executive, the elders also pointed out the enviable qualities of party leaders such as the outgoing Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, noting that “he’s done creditably in the past four years”.

The group added: “In terms of loyalty to the party and contributions to its development in the state, we have party men, including Chief Umana Umana and Senator John Udoedehe, among others, who had toiled to keep the party afloat over time in the state.”

It continued: “Akpabio’s uncommon profligacy in public office as governor in Akwa Ibom State is well known in political circles.

“We plead with you, Mr. President, to save our dear state Akwa Ibom from a potential ugly scenario, similar to that of Rivers State, between Gov. Wike and Amaechi, that has turned the state into a battlefield of blood and destruction, fuelled by ego and avoidable rivalry, especially, as the drumbeat of supremacy war and vendetta is already being fine-tuned, with claim of a ‘federal powerhouse in waiting’, by his gang. His propensity for violence is well documented in the state.

“Watch the video clips of all the names he called you just few years back in the name of a political campaign as governor. Find out who drove your party, our party into the bush throughout his days as governor, fanned by his dictatorial mien and intolerance disposition towards the opposition.

“Be guided by the fact that our poor outing in the first free and fair elections ever conducted in Akwa Ibom State, the 2019 general elections, was the aftermath of overwhelming state-wide revolt against Akpabio and what he represents.”

The group described the senator’s defection to the ruling party as “unfortunate” and “treacherous”, adding that the former Senate minority leader “sneaked into our party to achieve a long-held dream of stopping an APC victory in the state.”

It pointed out that Akpabio had only recently and boldly told global television viewers that he “did not decamp from PDP but moved”.

“A chameleon does not ever hide its colours, Mr. President,” the group warned.Image may contain: one or more people, people sitting and indoor

RE: INI EMEMOBONG’S BLOATED EGO AND GODSWILL AKPABIO’S ETHNIC CARD. #CowardAkpabio

We are constrained to respond to an epistle by one Sampson Sampson which sought to denigrate the person and office of Mr. Ini Ememobong, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.

From the tone and language of the publication, it is clear that the author is Chief Godswill Akpabio. Why Akpabio lacks the courage to own up to the publication speaks volumes about his flawed character. After his defeat at the polls by Engr. Christopher Ekpenyong, outgoing Senator Godswill has been lamenting and blaming everybody but himself. He has attributed his defeat at the polls to a conspiracy by leaders of his Party such as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Hon Rotimi Amaechi. He has blamed the Akwa Ibom State INEC REC. Mr. Mike Igini and made several baseless and wild allegations.

Expectedly. Mr. Sampson (read Senator Akpabio) claims that Mr. Ememobong came to limelight through Akpabio’s benevolence. Sen. Akpabio and his wife have never stopped boasting that they made everybody in Akwa Ibom State. Akpabio ceaselessly seeks glory and adulation. He competes with the Almighty God for glory, adulation and worship. Anybody who had the honor and privilege to SERVE THE STATE when Akpabio was Governor is always reminded that he came from the gutters.

Akpabio not only plays god; he is loud, lousy and noisy forever seeking attention and validation because of insecurity. Are other Governors like Fashola who served at the same time with Akpabio boasting about their achievements and denigrating those who served in their administrations? Indeed the bottom line is that Akpabio lacks class. We have had other former Governors in this State. Has anybody ever heard former Governor Victor Attah boast about bringing anybody to the limelight just because the person SERVED THE STATE during his tenure? Has Attah ever boasted that he brought Godswill Akpabio and others who served under him from obscurity to limelight? Attah will never go so low because he is God-fearing and has class and proper upbringing. As Governor, Attah treated all those who served the State under him with dignity and respect and always thanked them for their contributions to the development of the State. Out of office, Attah remains a role model and father figure who is loved, respected and honored by all who served the State under him. Can the same be said of Godswill Akpabio? No. Indeed enduring respect and honor are earned by those who are deserving. Akpabio erroneously thought that respect can be bought.

He must have learnt by now that the office of Governor is not permanent and you will not be respected just because you once were a governor who shared State resources to all and sundry to buy respect. People will respect you for your integrity, comportment honor and character. Godswill Akpabio as Governor consistently humiliated and denigrated Attah.
It is shocking that Akpabio will accuse Ememobong of disrespect because as State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, he is only 35. What has age got to do with someone performing the duties of his office? Is this not the same Godswill Akpabio who (with his wife) in 2014 insulted Buhari (a former Head of State and a man old enough to be his father) Did Akpabio not dismiss Buhari as an illiterate and a senile old man? If Akpabio has forgotten or is prepared to lie as is his wont, I can send him copies of the videos now trending on YouTube.

Out of desperation, Akpabio is now trying to play the ethnic card. This is a cheap act of desperation. Akpabio wanted to be the only cock in Annang land and even Akwa Ibom. Accordingly, he destroyed prominent Annang leaders (many of whom were his benefactors) like Atuekong Don Etiebet (lucky to be alive), late Ime Umana. late Albert Ukpana, late Okon Uwah, late Chief Fidelis Etim. Did Akpabio not dim the stars of bright upcoming Annang politicians like Hon. Uwem Udoma, Hon Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hon Pat Ineme etc.

The people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District have spoken. They rejected Akpabio because of his boastfulness and flawed character.
Sen. Godswill Akpabio is not indispensable. How does Akpabio failing his election a threat to the unity of the State? How is Mr. Ememobong by simply doing his work as PDP Publicity Secretary a threat to Akpabio and the Annang Nation? Is Akpabio more Annang than Christopher Ekpenyong, Ibok Essien, or even his cousin Prince Ukpong Akpabio- a serving commissioner in Udom Emmanuel’s administration?

As Governor Akpabio’s performance was grossly overrated against the background of the huge revenues of N3 trillion that accrued to the State between 2007 and 2015. His performance as Senator and Minority Leader was similarly mediocre with no record of outstanding leadership. How many bills of national consequence or significance did Akpabio sponsor in the Senate? His colleagues and constituents (including Emmanuel Enoidem) see Akpabio as a shameless coward and sycophant who cannot stand the heat and provide leadership when courage is required. If Obong Attah were such a coward how could he have led other distinguished Akwa Ibom sons and leaders like Sen. Udoma Udoma and Sen. Ibok Essien to win the 13 Percent Derivation battle for Akwa Ibom. The difference is that these distinguished leaders whose achievements changed the economic fortunes of Akwa Ibom have carried themselves with humility, decorum and dignity. Attah has not been boasting about his historic and monumental achievement of winning the 13 Percent battle. After Attah won the battle, Akpabio, the eternal opportunist came in to squander and waste the resources.

The truth is that Akpabio was promoted beyond his capacity and competence.
Will anybody in good conscience claim that Akpabio has created more impact in the Senate than a patriot like Senator Ibok Essien who served as Deputy Chief Whip. All those who are shedding crocodile tears because Akpabio lost an election should realize that Akwa Ibom State will thrive with or without Akpabio. There are still many leaders in the mould of Attah, Udoma and Ibok Essien who abound in this State. Nobody should write off the Senator-Elect for Akwa Ibom North East -Engr. Christopher Ekpenyong a former Deputy Governor and foundation member of the PDP who cut his business and political teeth at a time Akpabio was still roaming the streets of Lagos. Ekpeyong will do better than Akpabio who lacked real depth and substance and covered his weaknesses by being loud and lousy.

2023: APC SHOULD BE GUIDED BY HISTORY (There can never be politics without history) #PoliticsOfMurdering

24 Mar
Dost thou still bemoan thy fall
And think thy weary self undone?
Think again, O mortal man,
And know that since this world began
Men and stars have fallen low
And living things have ceased to grow
– DENNIS OSADEBAY

The year, 2023, is still far, and the politics of that year is still in the embryo, why then should one start beating the drum now? For the first time in my life I have to align with the thought of the Akwa Ibom State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo who recently issued a statement against the commencement of 2023 campaign by some politicians when the 2019 dispensation is yet to be inaugurated.

But then, the Ibibio people say, “NDUNÓÑÑÓ ITEM EFERE ÓFÓN KE OWO MM’ISINNE IKPAÑ”. I would not dare say what I’m going to say here if I’ve not learnt from history, and if I am not bent on seeing that majority of our people, especially those I happen to share a party platform with, benefit from the lessons of history. I have always said, and I am still of the opinion, that POLITICS CANNOT BE PLAYED WELL WITHOUT HISTORY. For example, if a party repeats the mistakes it did in 2019 in 2023 failure is her other name because no miracle can give her victory.

I wish APC well, hence I must say this: 8 years ago, the founders and founding members of the “Broom Party” in Akwa Ibom State were ambushed at Ikot Ekpene after series of threats were issued by the likes of Chief Sunny Ibanga (who circumstances and or Providence has brought into the very party he was against). Some of us were killed; some were wounded. Yours truly had to run from Ikot Ekpene to Uyo. In fact, how I did it I can’t recall, but I remember vividly that the bus I boarded was razed to ashes. I witnessed how people were killed. Majority of those who planned and executed the inhuman act are now in the APC, including the beneficiaries of the act. Chief Godswill Akpabio was the beneficiary in chief!

The doyen of Nigerian history, Professor Obaro Ikime, in his latest book, titled: “CAN ANYTHING GOOD COME OUT OF HISTORY?”, published in 2018, says “… the historian does not ply this profession in vacuo. He or she does not write for writing sake! He or she writes knowing that what he or she writes is of value to his or her nation….” He goes on to say that “the value of History is, in a sense, eternal. The issues which the historian decides to concentrate on are thrown up by the challenges which confront the society in which he or she lives….” The history I want my party to rely on as we are coasting to 2023 is the mayhem of March 22, 2011, where those in Akwa Ibom State Government then wanted to kill the progressives in their bid to crush opposition in the State. Blood was the feature of Akwa Ibom State and her politics. Kidnapping and assassination were the only HEADLINE NEWS from and or in Akwa Ibom State. From 2007, the Governor then, through the promptings of some so-called men of God who admonished that “a king must kill to maintain his throne”, was akin to Idi Amin of Uganda. There was no peace in Akwa Ibom State. I was always in hiding. Even some of my supposed colleagues did not know me because I needed to disguise to fight that war in the way I can.

Should our party, the APC forget this history? Why should they forget that Senator John Udoedehe was almost killed in Ikot Ekpene? Why should they forget that Mrs. Justina Udoedehe was almost killed in her Ikot Inyang hometown in Ikot Ekpene? Should they forget Group Captain Sampson Ewang who was humiliated by some of those who recently swarmed into the party? How can they forget that Mandators (Victor Essiet) almost lost his life for this same cause? In fact, it is still a shock to me because his car was attacked and destroyed by thugs… Don’t they know that a lot of people are in the grave prematurely because of this party? This brazen fight against history in our party, or this pretence to forget history in a hurry, is the reason we keep moving around, and or within, a circle – And we may continue to do so if the Nannies’ meal is again given to the dogs in 2023. The people are watching… They are not fools!

At this point, may I use this medium to pray that the soul of those killed in Ikot Ekpene on March 22, 2011, for daring to campaign to free this State from bondage and political ineptitude rest in peace! And may the souls of those killed in Ibiono Ibom, too, two days before that of Ikot Ekpene, also rest in peace. May those killed in that inglorious era rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen!Image may contain: 2 people, people sittingImage may contain: 1 person, sunglasses, hat and outdoorImage may contain: 1 person, outdoorImage may contain: one or more people and people standing

Of #Warsaw and the #VictorySong

18 Mar

By Emmanuel Ndon
Image may contain: 1 person, standing
Until late last year, very little was held about the memory of Warsaw because of its brutish elements. But the Polish city gained prominence in Nigeria’s political lexicon when former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with search engines linking Akpabio with entries on Warsaw.

For the purpose of a brief introduction, Warsaw was the most damaged city of World War II. The Nazis killed many more people in Warsaw than even in Hiroshima and Nagasaki which suffered atomic bomb attacks. Warsaw also achieved its prominence as the capital of Poland. The death and destruction in Warsaw resulted from a long history of anti-Polish sentiment in Germany intensified by Hitler’s antipathy towards Poland and the Polish people. Hitler saw the Jews and Slavs as the primary threat to Germany.

Senator Akpabio during the build-up to the political campaigns had threatened that the APC which he had defected to, would take over Akwa Ibom State like German dictator, Adolf Hitler, took over Poland. Speaking about his defection at a funeral ceremony in Enugu State, the Senator said “..it was watched in 59 countries and somebody asked what happened there, and I said just how it happened in Poland. When they did ask Hitler’s minister of information about the war in Poland, and he said Warsaw saw war and war saw Warsaw…I will say that in 2019 Warsaw shall see war and war shall see Warsaw. The return will be a victory. May God grant us all victory”.

Since that infamous outbursts, it was believed that Akpabio had declared war on Akwa Ibom people following his earlier promise to stop the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, from having a second term in office. And in response to that, the people also prepared to match Akpabio albeit through the ballot.

Senator Akpabio has a penchant for unguarded utterances. His Warsaw anecdotes were preceded by a series of superficial boasts which alluded to his supremacy and all-conquering personality. He had told President Buhari, prior to the elections, that he was going to deliver Akwa Ibom State to the APC in an election he said would last not more than three hours. Given such a wide mouth, nobody will doubt that Akpabio had the state in his pockets, and can trade out anyhow he wishes. In another breath, he boasted that Governor Udom Emmanuel can never get a second term because the PDP died the very day he left the party.

These and many other vituperations, to a large extent, were vexatious to the people of the state who believed strongly that Akpabio’s power and influence were bestowed on him by the people, hence he could not have been invincible.

Indeed, his utterances built up a lot of tension while everyone was surprised over the sinister intention of Akpabio to unleash terror on the very people who made him ascend the throne, and on whom he still intends to represent in the National Assembly. The same feeling resonated at the party. The Peoples Democratic Party has been the party of the people and it was the same platform Akpabio rode to power, yet the same party he chose to abandon without any reasonable explanation. This explains why Senator Akpabio could not win a return ticket to the Senate. It was never in any way a result of compromise or manipulation but a perfect resolve of the people to whom power belongs.

To a large extent, the people’s resolve and prayers doused the mounting tensions and storms which gathered during the elections. Truly speaking, the All Progressives Congress bigwigs had orchestrated some dangerous gambits capable of instilling fear and violence in the state. It was strange to find the Army, for instance, launch Operation Show of Force few days to the election, in spite of the widely acknowledged peaceful nature of the state. Prior to the elections too, the commissioner of police had been changed twice. There were viral videos and audios exacerbating drums of war.
Indeed, most of these threats came to be during the election. On the first date where elections were eventually postponed, at least ten vehicles conveying electoral materials and personnel were burnt in Obot Akara in Akpabio’s Ikot Ekpene senatorial district. During the presidential and national assembly elections, Senator Akpabio was said to have allegedly abducted electoral officials in a bid to manipulate election figures. The same incident was also reported against him during the governorship and House of Assembly polls of March 9.

On Wednesday, stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district unveiled the many atrocities the senator and his agents and supporters allegedly committed during the election. At a press conference led by the party leader in the area, Chief Michael Afangideh, the party highlighted how electoral officials were manhandled in PDP strongholds in a bid to falsify election results in favour of APC.

Part of the communique read: “That after INEC had distributed materials to the Voting Units andPoints; Senator Godswill O. Akpabio used Military men in Armoured Vehicles and “Policemen” in 6 Hilux Vehicles to pack Election Materials and Ad-hoc Staff of INEC in some Wards and Units into his Coaster Bus and took them to the compound of Barr. Ibanga Akpabio where APC members thumb-printed the ballot papers in favour of APC. The Wards/Units affected were as follows:- (i) All the Units in Ukana West Ward 2 (ii) All the Units in Ukana West Ward 1 (iii) All the Units in Ukana East Ward1 (iv) All the Units in Ekpenyong Ward 1 (v) All the Units in Odoro Ikot Ward 2. The above malpractice was immediately reported by PDP Agents in the Units, Wards and Local Government to the Electoral Officer, Essien Udim Local Government Area in writing”.

It said, “Senator Godswill O. Akpabio used his brother, SUPOL Idorenyin Akpabio, who is O/C, Anti-Robbery at the Akwa Ibom State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, in company of other policemen to shoot gun from Unit to Unit in the said Wards of theL.G.A to carry INEC materials and arrest some PDP supporters who were detained on that Election Day at Essien Udim Divisional Police Cell, Nto Nsek. Those detained were only released at the night of the Election Day”.

The stakeholders rejected totally the published Results of the 2 Wards of Adiasim and Ukana East which they said were procured under duress, and urged Senator Godswill O. Akpabio, “our son, to desist from further advertising of his declining and dwindling political status in the Country by false Press interviews that deepen his failing image before reasonable thinking members of the Nigerian society”.

Other instances of Senator Akpabio’s unguarded utterances could be traced to the past. During his reign as governor, the first of such missiles was his attack on his predecessor, Obong Victor Attah, whom he accused of leaving behind an empty treasury. This verbal attack ensured that Akpabio remained on a collision course with the elder statesman all through is eight-year tenure.

Akpabio had also bragged that he alone could determine who becomes what in the state. Thus, other than his official status as governor, he also ordained himself kingmaker of the state. At one occasion, he had intimated how he replaced the winner of an election by the crossing of his name.

His electoral conquests were often characterized by needless battles. This had set off a series of atrocities including kidnapping, assassination, etc, which characterized his eight-year reign of terror. A typical instance was the 2011 elections where so many people were kidnapped or assassinated as well as the theatre of blood which political campaigns eventually became. Thus, it was not to be taken with kid gloves when he proclaimed his Warsaw saw war and war saw Warsaw.

It must be noted that Senator Akpabio’s political life has been mendacious. Even when he preached zoning of political offices in the state, it was nothing more than rhetoric. For instance, everybody knew that Eket senatorial district would produce a governor after him, many including him had thought it would go to Oron extraction. Akpabio had nominated two people from Oron with corresponding empowerment with political appointments only to abandon them thereafter.

When he was about to step down as governor, his senatorial ambition was against the zoning principle in Ikot Ekpene. As at that time, it was the turn of Abak 5, but he overruled it. He got away not only because he was governor, but because he had the love and support of the people.
The lesson here is that his political exploits did not necessarily emanate from his prowess, but flowed from the kind support of the people. It must also be said here that in spite of his reign of terror, he could still sail through because the people were still behind him. His downfall came the very day he left the PDP because he lost the support of the people. Note also that the people here are at home with the PDP. His rejection by the people could be seen from the number of people that followed him to the APC – a paltry two commissioners (one his blood brother) and an initial one House of Assemblymember (from his constituency).

Evidently, his fall is a massive failure. Of course, it came first from his very own constituency. And then all the five former House of Assembly members that were to join him later in the APC, all lost their elections. It is the same story with the former commissioner who contested for Oron federal constituency seat. This is the testimony of a man who has been rejected along with everyone around him.

Senator Akpabio must begin to learn lessons in leadership. First, he must admit that the people made him and not otherwise. That the pride and arrogance to which he was soaked, are as always, the banana peels of leadership.
In this direction, it was unwise for the Senator to deride the outcome of the elections because of his failure. This is perhaps the first time any election conducted in the state has been peaceful, despite his threats of war. It is the first time campaigns went without blood – no kidnapping, no assassination, no gunshots anywhere. Now, peace has come to stay in Akwa Ibom State. Let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end. Akwa Ibom has been liberated from bondage, cultism, and occultic affiliations.

Akpabio only needs to retrace his steps and beg for forgiveness from Akwa Ibom people less he sinks into the abyss. As he rightly noted in his Warsaw chants, the return has brought victory, albeit not for him but for the people and the state.

GODSWILL AKPABIO LANDS IN BIG TROUBLE IN AKWA IBOM STATE, OVER REIGN OF TERROR

14 Mar
Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and recently defeated Senator, has been accused by over five hundred (500) stakeholders, political leaders, party executives and his cousin, Prince Ukpong Akpabio, of unleashing violence and terror on the people of the region, during the last Governorship and State Assembly elections, in the State.
Image result for Prince Ukpong Akpabio
Prince Akpabio, who led the stakeholders, in a World Press Conference, which held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Secretariat, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Thursday, alleged that the Senator masterminded and executed the militarization of the electoral process, witnessed in the area. The stakeholders and leaders signed a communique read by Barrister Imo-Owo Okpokpo.
They claimed that one Supol Idorenyin Akpabio of SARS, in the company of other Policemen, shot at people indiscriminately, detained and maimed PDP supporters, on the directives of Senator Akpabio.
Part of the communique reads:
“Essien Udim people condemn in strong terms, the various electoral offences and irregularities masterminded and perpetrated by Senator Godswill Akpabio and his cohorts, in which almost all the election process in the area was marred by unlawful militarization, rigging, and assault on INEC Electoral OfficersAmong the atrocities committed by Senator Godswill Akpabio, include carting away of electoral materials and INEC Ad hoc Staff, in all the units of the 11 wards in the area, with the help of Military men with armoured vehicles, to the residence of Barr Ibanga AkpabioSenator Godswill Akpabio with his cohorts, apart from assaulting INEC Staff, also beat and machete some PDP faithfuls, to the point of unconsciousness.”

The Stakeholders and Leaders of Essien Udim maintained that in units where elections were not duly conducted, the PDP won overwhelmingly, and they have their result sheets intact, describing any other result as fake, and do not represent the votes of the electorates of Essien Udim Local Government AreaThey rejected the published results so far released by INEC in the State, and equally condemned the cancellation of results in nine wards in the Council Area.
Essien Udim people used the forum to admonish Senator Godswill Akpabio, to desist from the further advertising of his declining and dwindling political status, through various Press interviews, as such will continue to deepen his failing image. We have totally rejected him as a people, they said. They commiserated with the Corps members and other INEC Staff, who lost valuable items as a result of the alleged mayhem perpetrated by Senator Godswill Akpabio, stressing that, Akpabio is still bent on killing some PDP Stakeholders, even as the elections are over.
They restated their hope on INEC’s capacity to correct, as well as address the election anomalies, with her avowed commitment to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the country.
However, in a previous Press Conference, held by Senator Akpabio, he alleged that the violence witnessed in Essien Udim, during the elections, was perpetrated by members of the PDPHe insisted that the APC won overwhelmingly in his Local Government and other Local Governments, but the INEC in collusion with the PDP-led State Government upturned the results against his party, the APC.
Akpabio added that he has facts and pieces of evidence to back his claims at the Tribunal when the time comes.

#Udom: Keeping The Peace & Wiping Out Traces Of Terror

10 Mar

By Sam Itauma

The Cross Road
We have come to another crossroad in the annals of our democracy.
Why we are down in the trenches at some points is because we, more often than not, fail to take action and rational decision at the appropriate time.
In Akwa Ibom State, we have a unique and finest of a gentleman in the saddle of power whose desire to forge a common bond, create a congenial environment for the sustainability of our economy and above all, peace to reign remains unparalleled.

The question is: does he really deserve another four years term after exhausting the first term? Reasonably, Mr Udom Emmanuel is more than deserving of our support for the second term.
This is why.
Governor Udom Emmanuel has done much to clear battalions of cult groups inherited from the past administration.
These were wildcard cult boys that were recruited, groomed and released by politicians mostly those in authorities to kidnap, maim and assassinate perceived political enemies and anyone believed to create challenges to the political office holders in the top echelon.
It was such a surreal moment and people were literally living in the edge of doom and sleeping with one eye open as fear beclouded the atmosphere; anarchy strutted the whole landscape as even churches were invaded by these hired hooligans who captured their victims and either mowed them down summarily to death or abducted them and demanded for ransom. Some even paid the ransom but didn’t make it alive. Some who made it alive had their limbs chopped off or eyes savagely blew off.
This was the era where private businesses were ransacked and destroyed with no compensation. Out of fear, people made an exodus out of the situation, running out and sojourned In strange lands; in self-exile or became refugees from a country where there was no civil war.
It was a time where stationed Investors took to their heels while the would-be investors closed any chapters or hopes of coming in.
It was a time in his history were multinational companies could not keep their employees in the state. Some were often ferried via choppers from other states or long buses fully guarded by platoons and masked soldiers to and from work.

Again, it was a period where sound bites like “There’s so much hunger in the land.” “My mother is sick in the hospital and I cannot pay the bill” “Who’ll be the next victim of kidnapping or assassination?”, etc were commonplace. Yet, a lot of oil money was unprecedentedly flowing in and gushing in.
Today, we’re blessed to have a man whose quest to reverse these negative indicators is sacrosanct and remains what he holds dear in his heart.
Industrialization Drive.
In any given society, employment is critical to sustainability, health, and development. One significant aspect of Udom’s administration goals is the creation of jobs through industrialization drive. So far, just three and a half years, we can boast of 14 viable industries established in the state and still counting. This is no mean feat as compared to the previous administration which promised to build 31 industries but ended up with zero in eight years.
Why You Should Go Out And Vote
For those of you who think election does not hold water you, think about the flurry of kidnapping, cultism that will resurface if you don’t act now. Don’t you think investors will run away again? And if investors run away again then hardship and hunger will resurface.
For those of you who developed voting apathy, if you allow mindless politicians to come in, individuals with cavalier mindsets, they’ll plunge us into the precipice.
Think about the stinking, dilapidated educational and healthcare structures that Governor Udom inherited from the previous administration and he’s revamping them. We cannot afford to make such a costly mistake
We cannot become radioactive in poverty, unemployment and educationally backwards. We cannot reject peace and unity that we vouch for and echo every day on the platter of falsehood peddled by hackneyed political officer seekers whose intent is to cremate our state, our unity our peace and our economy for their egotistical, narcissistic and corrupt interests.

Stealing And Destruction of Private Businesses

By the way, why should any reasonable persons think of queueing behind people who deliberately destroyed private businesses of their citizens if they could not steal it or take over from their owners by crooked means?
We cannot forget in a haste the destruction of farmland owned by a man in Uyo (Monday Akpautong?) by those in authority.
The killing of the Ekpenyong brothers who refused to hand over their sand quarry to the greedy fiends in authority then. This subsequently led to the arrest and detention of innocent people like Dr. Chris Ekong, Fabian Ekpenyong (victims’ brother) who were almost killed in detention while the identified culprits were let off the hook.
We cannot forget the crushing of the AMAKPE Refineries by those who could not establish a single industry while in the government office. The refinery was slated to employ more than 6,000 people in the first takeoff. The saddest part is that, after they truncated the refinery takeoff in 2010, they hired deranged cyber thugs to carry out incessant and strings of campaigns of calumny aimed at tarnishing the image of the AMAKPE Refineries promoters. This was their hallmark, no doubt.

Vacuous Promises and Outlandish Lies

Today we have people who cruise through the network of lies, mountains of mendacity and web of falsehood. I mean people who ride with trucks fully loaded with the baggage of empty promises coming again to take over governance in order to take us a million miles backwards? Indices of their previous stewardship in different strata of government show their incredibly abysmal performance and regrettable leadership. Perhaps, it was God’s plan for Judas to jump off the Divine Ship to absolutely give peace a chance. Sorry, I meant to say, Jonah.

The military and police chiefs, at different fora, told us that since Mr. Udom Emmanuel came to power, Akwa Ibom State has taken back her position as the most peaceful state in Nigeria

On Saturday, I appeal to you, as an apolitical individual, devoid of party affiliation, to queue behind Mr. Udom Emmanuel and thump print for him and his associates so that we can all keep the peace, wipeout and completely obliterate the traces kidnapping and the reign of terror in AkwaAbasi Ibom State.

Former Governor, sitting senator and kidnapper cum Assassin-In-Chief, Mr Godswill Obot Akpabio has ordered the burning and attack on buses conveying sensitive electoral materials by Independence Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in Obot Akara on Saturday.
Akpabio who has been chanting war songs during the campaign season all through, as well as his most notorious violence-induced cliche ” Warsaw, saw war and war saw Warsaw.” is believed to be the mastermind of the dastardly act. An eye-witness, Joe Uko Idung, told our reporters.
The officials boarding the burnt cars sustained gruesome injuries and burns critical to their lives.
Senator Akpabio who decamped from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) as he was being hounded by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for fraud and theft of money to the tune of N900 billion is trying to install an APC candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere as governor, a man who was his Deputy Governor but forced to resign in 2012 when he was facing corruption, assassination and theft charges.Image may contain: one or more people, tree, sky, outdoor and natureImage may contain: 1 person, sitting
In the interim, the PDP has condemned the violent attack and blamed it on APC and Chief Godswill Akpabio for both incendiary comment and deliberate order given to hoodlums sympathetic to APC to launch the attack.
In a press statement signed by the State PDP Director, Public Communications, Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok said the attack is an attempt by Akpabio and his APC hatchetmen to portray Akwa Ibom State as a violent state in order to call for election postponement to enable them to bring in mobile policemen and military to take over the state during the election which will give room for intimidation and rigging.
“This action corroborates our earlier disclosure that the APC plans to sponsor violent criminal operations that could enable its poorly orchestrated script for postponing the elections in Akwa Ibom State,” Ibok said
Eleven buses hired by INEC in readiness for the postponed election of Saturday were all together touched by the APC hoodlums.
