The almost forgotten crisis in Nkari Clan of Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State may have been resurrected following what played out during the funeral ceremony of Obong Bassey Inuaeyen’s mother in the area last Saturday.

It was an admixture of surprise and indignation when, out of the blue, a pay-loader containing three caskets was flung along the major road leading to the venue of the burial ceremony.

The three caskets were suspected to have contained corpses of the three brothers of Evangelist Helen Ukpabio: Charles, Joseph and Emmanuel, who were slain since 2012 during the Nkari crisis.

Following closely and wearing branded T-shirts, with names and photographs of the three slained brothers, the rugged and bloodthirsty looking men, (unidentified youths) matched steadily towards the burial venue, blocking the road and getting ready to cause mayhem by disrupting the funeral service.

It could be recalled that Helen Ukpabio, had during the crisis, fingered Obong Bassey Inuaeyen as being responsible for the gruesome murder of his three brothers.

The founder of the Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministry was also said to have petitioned the Presidency during the administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Director of State Security Service and the acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, appealing to them to wade into what she described as ‘the barbaric’ killing of her three brothers in one day.

She also dragged the Commission of Enquiry set up by the then Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, to Court asking the Court to declare it unfit to investigate the matter.

The six-member Judiciary Commission of Enquiry tasked with unraveling the perpetrators of that dastardly murder of Emmanuel, Charles and Joseph Ukpabio, chaired by Justice John U. Bassey, having Barr. Augusta Bassey of the Ministry of Justice as its Secretary, Dr. Mfonobong Ndarake Itek, Barr. Nse Ekanem and Mrs. Bernadette Inyang as members, had long submitted its report extricating the accused.

However, this reporter learnt from a reliable source that Helen Ukpabio had called Bassey Inuaeyen close to the burial time of his mother, asking for two million naira, without which she was going to mess up the whole obsequies.

This gave the learned chieftain enough signal to gather security personnel in their numbers in preparation for the burial.

Accordingly, as soon as the Evangelist saw the in-troup of personalities coming for the ceremony and the fact that her hired thugs were comfortably taken care of by the security personnel, which was heavily mobilized, she fell on the ground shouting and shedding crocodile tears and calling on the Inuaeyen’s family to also conduct burial for her half brothers.

Consequently, her whole plan was dashed as she could not pull through or succeed in her disruption.
