Dear Mr. President,

On several occasions in the last few years, I have stressed repeatedly the fact that Nigeria is not practicing a true democracy. The only difference from military government is that the players involved in the current charade are mostly civilians with no military uniforms. Prime example of this is Akwa Ibom State which is one of the premier oil producing states in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. It is an established fact that until May 2007 when Gov. Godswill Akpabio became the governor, Akwa Ibom was known as the most peaceful state in Nigeria. No sooner did Akpabio assume power than the state became the killing field, rife with kidnappings and assassinations. This is why tyranny with kleptocracy is the most appropriate description of what is going on in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria presently.

This write-up becomes necessary following the recent revelation that the government of Akwa Ibom State and her paid agents in and outside Nigeria have now branded me and other innocent Akwa Ibomites residing in United States as terrorists. Led by the evil government, effort is also being intensified to shut down Ibom forum and Ibibionation forum, the two main email groups where Akwa Ibomites around the world are not afraid to voice their concerns on the corrupt and repressive nature of Godswill Akpabio. This write-up, takes a snap-shot of the tyrannical government of Gov. Akpabio to show why this writer believes he is neither fit nor deserve to be the governor of Akwa Ibom State.
To make sure he had no opposition for his second term bid and that no one dares to ask him of accountability, Gov. Akpabio from the outset devised schemes, from outright bribery, unprecedented election rigging to all kinds of illegality, much like in the days of Gen. Abacha, a military tyrant who wanted to succeed himself. As a result, Akpabio’s political opponents or those perceived to be a threat were either kidnapped, assassinated, or are now living in exile.

The following is just a tiny fraction of the ordeal Akwa Ibomites are facing since Gov. Akpabio assumed power in May 2007. Attached is, by no means exhaustive, a list of those kidnapped, assassinated or jailed during this reign of terror.

1) Repressive Regime:

a) Essien Ewoh and Fresh Facts Newspaper

No sooner did Gov. Akpabio assume the mantle of leadership in Akwa Ibom in May 2007 than he stepped on oppressive and repressive buttons. Barely one month in office, he ordered the arrest of a newspaper vendor, Mr. Essien Ewoh who was thrown into prison for distributing Fresh Facts newspaper that published a story critical of the governor.

The wave of arrests and sedition charges against the media in Akwa Ibom were reported in drove internationally per CPJ – New York publications of June 27, 2007. These were some of the citations by CPJ: “Newspaper Copies Seized in Southern Akwa Ibom State”, on October 17, 2007 “Nigerian Publisher Charged With Sedition Over Story Critical of Governor”; and on January 25, 2008, “Nigerian Newspaper Distributor Arrested, Charged”.

The publisher of Fresh Facts newspaper, Mr. Sam Asowata was arrested in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, and “tucked into the trunk/booth of a vehicle, and driven all night to Uyo – a distance of about 500 miles. Mr. Asowata’s young daughter, who happened to have been in her father’s office at the time of the arrest, was also arrested, presumably on the orders of Gov. Akpabio as well.”

b) AKPF – The Terror Network

From his early days in office, Gov. Akpabio began to act like someone who was possessed or a person with mental problem. Unknown to many was the fact that Gov. Akpabio before coming to office had secretly set up a group called AKPF (Akwa Ibom People Forum). Their primary goal was to kill, maim and destroy any potential opponent to the governor. All hell broke loose. Akwa Ibom became the killing field, and the kidnapping and assassination capital of Nigeria. AKPF was only disbanded following pressure by the federal government as a result of so much out-cries by the citizens. But its members continued with their terrorist activities nonetheless.

c) The Man Died – Ordeal of Chief Ononokpono

Chief Ononokpono a sick and frail Octogenarian, had in The Nation newspaper courageously asked Gov. Akpabio some cogent questions about his administration and financial accountability. Rather than respond to those questions, Gov. Akpabio ordered the arrest of Chief Ononokpono who was denied bail and “remanded in dehumanizing prison custody from March, 25, 2010 to May, 14, 2010.” Chief Ononokpono’s health condition worsened since then. On December 7, 2010, Chief Ononokpono died.

d) Destruction of AMAKPE Refinery

True to his repressive nature, on Saturday, October 27, 2007, Gov. Akpabio shut down a foundation laying ceremony of AMAKPE refinery project at Eket. Embarrassingly, this happened after dignitaries from around the world including American Embassy, had assembled at the venue. Unmindful of the millions of dollars the principals of AMAKPE, American residents, have sunk into the project. Gov. Akpabio blocked every effort made by the principals to raise funds by threatening the banks and potential investors. He never give a damn about some 1,000 direct and over 5,000 indirect employment the refinery would have generated in a state with over 80% unemployment.

e) Sealing off CRARN at Eket

The Good Samaritan, Sam Itauma, who established CRARN to cater for the abused children at Eket is presently in hiding from Gov. Akpabio’s fang for his dear life. Sam is being hunted down because he had the love and courage to cater for children accused of witchcraft and who have been brutalized, mutilated, abused, and some buried alive. Sam’s efforts attracted worldwide attention including CNN. Gov. Akpabio prefers such atrocities not be mentioned or publicized. This is Sam’s crime for saving these children.

f) Muzzling of the Citizens

In calling for Nigerian President’s intervention, Mr. Ime Mbatessien stated how as a result of the petitions he sent to the Chairmen of EFCC and ICPC dated September 16, 2010 cataloguing the high corruption index of the administration of Gov. Godswill Akpabio, he is being hunted like a common criminal. And to avoid being treated like late Chief Ononokpono or killed, he has resorted to sleeping from hotel to hotel in the capital city of Abuja.

g) Infamous Criminal Bill: Decree 2

Today, we see the return of the Gestapo, perhaps an innovation in democratic dictatorship! What next? It was Gen. Abacha who passed a similar bill in 1995 in order to justify the hanging of Ken Saro-Wiwa, the Ogoni environmentalist. Gov. Akpabio had, days before the April 2011 gubernatorial election done exactly the same to the chagrin of many around the country. With this decree, Gov. Akpabio arrogated to himself the power to detain his political enemy or opposition as long as it pleases him.

Prof. Itse Sagay, SAN, stated as follows: “By this monstrosity of a Decree 2 of 2011, Akpabio has joined the select group of infamous dictators like Sergeant Doe, Hastings Banda of Malawi, Mugabe, Gbagbo, Papa Doc of Haiti, the late Eyadema of Togo and a host of others who have turned their countries into horrific nightmares for their citizens and residents.”

2) Kleptocracy and Financial Irresponsibility

Just as the late Col. Ghadaffi practiced kleptocracy in Libya so is Gov. Akpabio in Akwa Ibom State. Gov. Akpabio runs Akwa Ibom as an estate rather than a state. In a kleptocracy, “a government is subject to control fraud that takes advantage of governmental corruption to extend the personal wealth and political power of government officials and the ruling class via the embezzlement of state funds at the expense of the wider population, sometimes without even the pretense of honest service…” The term in Greek means “Rule by thieves”.

a) Gov. Akpabio embarks on grandiose white elephant projects such as the Tropicana Entertainment center whose price tag more than triples a similar size project in Abuja. From the cost/benefit analysis standpoint, there is no justification for dumping over N40 billion (initial cost was put at N33 billion) into the Ibom Tropicana when nearly 90% of the population live under $2 a day. Whereas a similar project in Abuja is said to cost a mere N12 billion and his privately funded by the same contractor, Silver Bird entertainment group that is contracted by Akpabio.

b) How about the N13 billion bribe Gov. Akpabio gave to members of his political party in August 2010 to ensure his re-election in April 2011? How about countless donations of vehicles to friends, cronies, pastors, judges, lawyers, etc? Many contracts are awarded with excess kickbacks. Some contracts are awarded as many times as possible such as the Akwa Ibom Airport where the original contractor, Dyncorp from United States, was kicked out and contract re-awarded at inflated amount. All these monies are taken directly from the public treasury.

3) Ethnic Politics:

Owed to misguided belief that second term ought to be automatic, CAN opposition party’s event in Ikot Ekpene was violently disrupted. This action was followed by a pronouncement by the Annang leaders barring non- Annang candidates from campaigning in the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district. Any discerning leader would have stepped in with alacrity to denounce such actions knowing that ethnic issue is very volatile, much like a minefield. But Gov. Akpabio kept mum in the face of such grievous missteps.

The effect of that pronouncement manifested on March 22, 2011 when Akpanudoedehe, the ACN gubernatorial candidate went to Ikot Ekpene to campaign. His convoy was welcome with “…weapons, bricks, building blocks, sticks, machetes, and AK47 machine guns, etc. The protective escort of the convoy was surrounded in both ends and the stones began to rain on the cars, on the roofs and the windows, smashing cars like fallen trees. Those who tried to escape were gunned down and their heads smashed with five inches, six inches and nine inches blocks with blood and body parts strewn everywhere….”

This was followed by more destructive mayhem at Uyo, the state capital, where many more lives were lost. Gov. Akpabio, consequently, came up with the hasty criminal Decree 2 and trumped-up charges and arrest, after arrest, of Akpanudoedehe, the opposition candidate, without arresting those who started the mayhem at Ikot Ekpene. This action meant to deny Akpanudoedehe his fundamental human right became a hallmark of irrationality expected only from a dictatorial and kleptocratic governor like Akpabio.

4) Insecurity: Kidnappings and Assassinations

Unlike Col Ghadaffi, “Gov. Akpabio never came to power through a coup d’tat, that’s an open secret. But for the two to remain in power, violence became the readily available tool used with ease. Criticize and be kidnapped! Criticize and die.”

Dr. Ime Umana, the ACN deputy governor candidate re-affirmed this allegation when he mentioned that: “Mike Ejiofor, then SSS Director in the State openly told Akpabio that he was behind killings and assassinations in the state….”

a) On Sunday, January 31, 2010 while worshipping, a retired army officer, Gen. Edet Akpan was abducted from a sacred House of God and stuffed into the trunk of a car. Imagine the king of kings, the Oku Ibom Ibibio tribe being assassinated after returning from the funeral of a church pastor who was assassinated days before! Imagine countless other assassinated victims such as Madam Philomena Udonwa whose only crime was to have a son with ambition to run for the highest office in the state? The son, Engr. Udonwa only escaped with bullet wounds on May 12, 2010, a day the mother was abducted and later killed by her abductors. Imagine the state of fear and insecurity that dominates the citizens who become afraid of sleeping even in their houses, afraid of going to church, afraid of so many unknowns.

b) Barrister Imo Udonwa was a former member of the State House of Assembly who was slated to be the next PDP (ruling party) chair in the State. He became an active contributor to Ibom forum group-mail and a fierce critic of Gov. Akpabio. As a lawyer, he supported his allegations against the government with certified documents. Consequently, he was gunned down for daring to speak out against evil government.

c) Chief Paul Inyang, a known member of Gov. Akpabio’s political party and was also slated to be the Chair of the ruling party in the State. It was reported that he shifted allegiance to an another governorship candidate, an opposition to Gov. Akpabio. While worshipping in the church on Sunday, June 20, 2010, he was gunned down.

d) Never before in the history of Nigeria has a Paramount Ruler been assassinated. HRH, Edidem James Robert Obot, the Oku Ibom III, the Paramount ruler of Ubium Clan and the leader of the Ibibio ethnic group was assassinated in his Palace on January 30, 2011 for his “anti-establishment” stance.

e) Until her death, Christy-Essien Igbokwe, a reknown entertainer was hounded and persecuted by Akpabio’s government. In a press statement released on June 3, 2011, shortly before her death on June 30, 2011, Christiana Ibokwe Essien wrote:

“I have been called and informed … how Akpabio’s government has continued in the plan of eliminating members of my family through planned kidnapping and deployment of cover-staff whose assignment probably was to poison us… Governor Akpabio must have renewed (though he never ceased) this attack on my family because of my insistence that the evil that is presently in Akwa Ibom must be removed so that the respected peace that existed amongst our people returned.”

f) On December 21, 2010, Miss Faith Udo, a 26-year old student was brutally murdered by one Yusuf Salihu believed to be a member of Governor Akpabio’s killer squad. As in previous cases, immediately after Salihu was arrested, he was summarily released and set free following pressure from the above.

g) On July 16, 2011, Abasiema Sunday Peters, a 23-year old man was shot on both legs by the Gov. Akpabio’s wife security detail. Instead of providing medical treatment, the man was handcuffed and taken to the police station for detention. His only crime was that he did not move off the road fast enough for the governor’s wife motor convoy passing by.

h) A national publication, TELL magazine No. 45 of 15th November 2010 titled it succinctly: “Reign of Terror in Akwa Ibom State”. It described a case in August 2010: The State Vs Dr. Chris Ekong; who was framed-up, arrested, detained and eventually charged to court on phantom murder charges. It quoted Andem E. Ndem, attorney for Dr. Ekong saying, “When the matter (case) came up in court, the Attorney General (AG) did not even want the charge read to the accused Dagogo Minayo, alias Puff Daddy who admitted killing the Ekpenyong brothers in the open court. AG quickly informed the court that he had entered a nolle prosequi (stop prosecution order) in the said charge. Consequently he applied that the charge be struck out.”

“We recall with disgust, a similar case involving one Mr. Nathaniel Uyoh, (accused in the first kidnapping incident during administration of Governor Akpabio). Here, the AG deliberately stayed away from court on several occasions until the court was constrained to strike out the charge for want of diligent prosecution. Today the accused person is moving around freely in government vehicle campaigning for the return of Governor Akpabio in 2011.”

Attorney Andem also states that there are a number of cases like the above involving known state sponsored killer squads walking freely in the street today because the state makes sure they mount pressure or bribe those in judicial and the police to stop prosecution.

i) Prince Ikim and the Killer Squad called Peace House

In January 2011, Attorney U. Frank-Igwe representing Mr. Prince Akpan Ikim filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) alerting that Ikim’s life was in danger. Prince Ikim, a former SSS officer, was a known member of Akpabio’s killer squad called Peace House. According to Atty. Frank-Igwe, Peace House is “a conglomeration of the K.K.K Cult members, armed robbers and kidnappers who get financial rewards from the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio for a job well done…”

After falling out with Gov. Akpabio, Prince Ikim defected from Peace House with the inside secrets. Gov. Akpabio and Peace House members went after him and he ran into hiding in Abuja from where his lawyer petitioned the IGP. Two members of the Peace House, Uyoh Nathaniel and Godswill Friday Nkamiang also mentioned above by Lawyer Andem Ndem, were those paraded by the then commissioner of Police, Mr Mike Zuokumor at the police headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia for kidnapping one Mr. Sassive Khali, a Lebanese Engineer with Stemco Construction Company based in Ikot Ekpene (see Weekly Insight newspaper of Wednesday 25th June Tuesday – 1st July 2008, page 12. Titled IKOT-EKPENE KIDNAP SAGA, KIDNAPPERS IN POLICE NET).

Atty. Frank-Igwe stated, “It is amazing to note with dismay that it was Mr. Don Etim, the Commissioner for Works, that facilitated the release of these celebrated kidnappers using his position in Government’. This re-confirms what Atty. Andem said in (h) above.

A governor is supposed to be a LEAD SERVANT of the people and should be endowed with Responsibility, Objectivity, Open-Mindedness, Flexibility, Inspiration, Respect, Connectedness, etc. On the contrary, Governor Akpabio’s government prides itself of lack of accountability, inefficiency, and ineffectiveness just as it is devoid of legitimacy and due process because these can never be expected in a despotic and kleptocratic government.

Gov. Akpabio wastes no time clamping down on his critics as cited above. He has made several attempts in the past to shut down Ibom forum and other fora, even threatening litigations against the Moderators.

In Nigeria, a lot of the journalists are in the payroll of the Akwa Ibom government so that they cannot report any news deemed negative by the government. No news on corruption or incident of kidnapping and assassination is ever reported by the state media and those media on government payroll.

Therefore, the only sources of information the indigenes of the state have access to and can express their feelings are the Ibom forum and Ibibio Nation forum which Gov. Akpabio now directs his attacks. Ironically, most members of his cabinets led by the Commissioner for Information are also members of the forum and periodically get sound advice from this forum. It is also not uncommon for Akpabio’s agents to use the forum to threaten critics of his government.

Ibom forum was first created in 2002 and re-established in 2003 and has continued to serve the people of Akwa Ibom well. Unfortunately, the forces of darkness would love to wish it away. A member writes recently, “His Excellency and his men are now frustrated that the Diaspora critics can neither be contained nor silenced with intimidation and arrests. His attack dogs have been unleashed with instructions to do all that has to be done to rein in those who cannot keep silence in the face of tyranny. Dissenting voices must be gagged. Opposing views must be eliminated…”

Finally, the terrorism experienced in Akwa Ibom today is the handiwork and a hallmark of Gov. Godswill Akpabio. He knows how and when it was introduced to Akwa Ibom State and it is only him who can turn it off.

Samsung launches solar powered computers & laptops, Nissan launches Nissan Leaf (a car that can run for years without fuel – electric car sold for less than (N4 million), Airtel & other telecom companies to launch solar powered base stations worldwide, Nigerian banks and many more Nigerians clinch to solar & power inverters too. From the foregoing, very soon, our oil will be needless & useless. Now is the time we need to quickly fix Nigeria’s big challenges fast & then start shopping for alternative means of livelihood & source of income b4 it’s too late.

We must not continue to tolerate our figureheads & watch this great nation fall flat because ONLY we the masses will suffer it as they have all stolen monies enough to cater for even their generations unborn. We have to take after Egypt & Libya on peaceful demonstration but if they continue waging war against us, we might have to take the bull by the horn & begin to respond violently. Enough is enough. Boko Haram, Fuel Subsidy Removal, No Light, No Roads, ASUU on Strike, No Water, No Health Care, No Education, No freedom of Speech, Bad Governors, Bad Senators, Bad Rep. Members, No Government Airlines, Even Police & Army are used against the poor alone. Innocent boys & girls have turned Kidnappers, Scammers, Fraudsters, Armed Robbers, Prostitute & other alternative means of survival! How long must we continue 2 suffer in abject poverty even when we are naturally blessed by God from origin?

Time to act is now!! Even the kingdom of God suffereth violence & violence taketh it by force. We need to do it at least for our children & grand children. 28th JANUARY 2012 IS THE BIG DAY. Make plans 2 join other Nigerians in Abuja as we storm d FCT to demand our rights. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan & his CLUELESS team have to work or GO! Please support this move by keeping this message circulating till every Nigerian has read/gets it. Signed by all Nigerian youths! Kill that fear & pass this on.

Obong Umana

Tell Jonathan, tell Reuben Abati: so long as Jonathan recognizes tyrants like Godswill Obot Akpabio (who today by the grace of God, the Supreme Court of Nigeria remitted electoral infractions allegation, back to Uyo Electoral Tribunal, for trial on merits), then he, Jonathan, does not demonstrate an understanding of the core concerns that constitute the basis for Professor Chinua Achebe’s rejection of his dubious award.

How can Jonathan recognize Godswill Obot Akpabio (a person that has presided over the murders, kidnappings, and political intimidations of Nigerian citizens), and claim improvements in the Nigeria electoral process.
How can the world witness the bodies of (electoral) deceased out of Akwa Ibom and Benue states of Nigeria, with complaints pending in International Human Rights Courts, and Jonathan/Abati claim electoral reforms?! With so many court challenges?!

Just in case Jonathan mis-interpreted the acclamations by the US State department and the EU, concerns over Al-Qaeda in Nigeria , and concern for U.S. national interests, often necessitate choice between the worse of two evils, not an absolute embrace of Nigerian electoral practices based on “merits”.

Till such a time that Nigeria indeed moves in the right direction; till the crime wave in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria wanes, till the looting of Treasuries by the likes of Godswill Obot Akpabio and Ibori stops, till justice is done and not just talked about, till efforts to stop corruption are sincere and real, till freedom of the press reigns from sea to the desert north, till unemployment abates, till food and the good life is not reserved for the Akpabios only, till the exiled earn their right of return, till Nigerians are free from terror; it will be difficult for Jonathan to earn the support, encouragement, and cooperation of all Nigerian citizens.

A reasonable starting point for Jonathan is to rid himself of the likes of Godswill Obot Akpabio and hire people who can at least count and procure enough medals for his awards.

My name is Obong Umana, and I approve this message.

Gov Godswill Akpabio’s Secret Plot To Shut Down Diaspora Voice Fails

9 Nov

Written by Asuquo Okon
Good people, a month ago, Gov Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state, called on his puppet State House of Assembly to enact a law on an outright ban on print media that publish news or features that are critical of his government. As I write now the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) is tirelessly working on a legislation that will ensure that no media in his state publish information that is critical of his dictatorial government is given a space.

Though as counter-productive as this act is and inimical to the newly established Freedom of Information Bill of Nigeria, yet the AKHA which seems to be made up of ‘yes’ men and in the wallet of Akpabio could not have a second thought over their ill and conspicuously denigrating action.

Sadly, though, journalists or columnists who write to criticize the governor are either kidnapped or assassinated. Politicians and ordinary citizens, who do their private business and whom the governor feels their action may not help in whitewashing his image, face similar fate. In view of the dire consequences facing such writers, they have either kept silent or left Akwa Ibom State to hide with their family; because leaving their families behind means an ample opportunity for the governor’s brewed cult gang to mow them down in cold blood.

Few hours ago, I found in my inbox a letter of petition by one Ata Ikiddeh sent to Yahoo praying her to terminate the activities of the Diaspora Ibom Forum and Ibibio Nation discussion groups; the only online groups that give the Akwa Ibom people and their friends the alternative and opportunity to make public their views. Ata Ikiddeh as we all know was based in Romford, and Essex, United Kingdom, but ran to Akwa Ibom since last year when the UK police were ferociously looking for him in connection with his Non-Profit organisation, Global-Media-Europe-Int and with link to child trafficking. Since then he has not set foot in the UK.

The petition was written on Tuesday, 26 October 2010, 11:33, about a year ago, and however got support of one Clement Ikpatt who wasrecently appointed a Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affair by Akpabio’s administration. Ikpatt, a deserted Nigerian Police officer who left the country twenty years ago and took refuge in the US has equally not set foot in his father land, Nigeria since then. And yet is used as one of the chief propagandists and a coordinator for Governor Akpabio’s burgeoning money laundry empire in the United State of America, under the aegis of Akwa Ibom Diaspora Network (AIDN).

We are told AIDN has been under investigation of money laundry and terror-related activities by the US government.

A certain Uduak Ukpeh, based in London and a nurse by profession who operates a drug company, Virgin Investments Nigeria Limited, for governor Akpabio in East London and Nigeria, also signed one of the petitions together with Dr Ezekiel Umo Ette who heads part of drugs conglomerate in Atlanta, Georgia.

The petition, written one year ago, only came to the fore when Ata Ikiddeh wanted to forward it to one of governor Akpabio’s hatchet men to show the Pay Master that they are executing his plans to the letter, and therefore need more logistics to accomplished it, but as fate will have it, he mistakenly forwarded it to Ibom Global Forum discussion group. A Diasdpora group sponsored by Akpabio himself to counter any claims or publication coming from the very discussion groups that Akpabio wants Yahoo to exterminate so that his reign of terror and unmitigated mayhem will continue unabated and indeed unchallenged.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED:Ata Ikiddeh wrote the governor On Thu, 28/10/10,to intimate him of his job well-done! See part of the letter: “ Your Excellency,Yahoo sent me a mail this afternoon informing me they had taken “appropriate action”, but would not disclose what action they have taken. I went through their Terms of Service (TOS), it only sets out violations. I have been monitoring Ibom Forum the whole day. I have sent 3 different complaints-this particular complaint focused on the threat to your son. (KMM118129344V62633L0KM) This is the file name and complaint serial number which will always be used.Clement says yahoo will close Ibom Forum down. Thanks Ata”

This might have been the reason for Ata undisclosed appointment as one of the Pas. When Ata said: “I have been monitoring Ibom Forum thewhole day.” when he is not a member of the forum that means he has a ghost name in it as they have ghost names in the Akwa Ibom State payroll which in spite of the call for investigation, no action has been taken.

Announcing the discovery of the petition, Dr Tom Mbeke-Ekanem, the President Ibom People’s Congress (IPC) said: Ladies and gentlemen, I am sharing with you below the activities of the evil forces that have since taken over our state. We knew long before now the havoc wrought on ourstate by the present administration and its agents that span across the globe. We are all aware of the uncountable deaths and untold hardship Akwa Ibom people have been made to face for no false of theirs but simply because they have yearned for a true and credible democracy…

He continued: Today, the government of Akwa Ibom State and her paid agents in and outside Nigeria plan to carry out the same repressive tactics they have used in Akwa Ibom State for nearly five years now out here in United States. It is good that they have now invited FBI, Homeland Security, the State Department, CIA, and SSS in Nigeria into this deplorable state of affairs in Akwa Ibom. And I strongly hope the activities of this evil administration will be thoroughly investigated by both the FBI and CIA.Thank goodness that United States is a country of law. Freedom of the press is guaranteed in the Constitution…..

Nonetheless, it is hard to believe that with all the crimes against humanity and the glaring human right violation that are being committed by governor Akpabio, many Nigerians seem to be interested in the oil money that flows in to Akwa Ibom State and how they can organised an event then called Akpabio to come and get an award in order to carve a niche of the Akwa Ibom oil money.

They seem not ask question about the people who are being kidnapped or sent to their early graves by the governor’s killer squad who are licensed to kill. They are not interested in the number of children who have been orphaned not by HIV/AIDS but by men paid with the only official dutyto kill perceived adversaries of the governor.

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan cannot continue to pretend that he and his government are not aware of the mounting atrocities of Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State against his own people. He cannot continue to turn a blind eye while one of his governors is having a field day losing count of the number of people being sent to their early graves.Mr President, A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE!

Recently the US warned its citizens not to travel to a few states in Nigeria’s Niger Delta and a few states in the east. Akwa Ibom State was the first to mention. If all is well why must the US issue this warning? President Jonathan will not go to heaven to look for an answer to this question. Will he?

Some hours ago, I was jolted out of my revelry which did not spell well for my country in antithesis of the way which I am praying for. When I opened my email, the headline that was very conspicuous read:PLOT AGAINST IBOM FORUM & AKWA IBOM INDIGENES IN DIASPORA.When I finished reading the plot and failed intrigues of Akpabio, I rinsed my mouth and got some drinking water. I remembered I was in Uyo whichmight have prompted me to get a half sleep. Since I always sneaked in and out of Uyo, I prepared for my flight ticked online via Calabarairport instead of Uyo – a usual case of mine. Then I sat in front of my laptop and scribbled a few lines of encouragement to all thefreedom fighters in my state below:

Dear All, Akpabio boys asking Yahoo to shut down the Voice of the masses! No shaking whatsoever. It was a ploy to get plump jobs!May be time has come for Godswill Obot Akpabio, the Kidnapper-in-Chief in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, with his notorious group of assassins andabductors to be fully disgraced. This is the time to put on your girdle and amour of the Lord to fight the devil; I mean the real DEVIL and get him hook, line and sinker. God is alive. I mean the time to bring out fact to bear. Time to put up petitions in various human rights websites and blogs. It is a deliberate ploy by the anarchists to carry out their 666 plans before the time of rapture comes. It is a way to blind-fold and shut people’s mouth then continue to terrorize, intimidate, coerce and kill innocent people with impunity

Akpabio, the man whose head has gone haywire and mouth blood-tasty, just as it happened to Idi Amin Dada of Uganda, Adolf Hitler, Sanni Abacha, and most recently, Muammar Ghadafi of Libya and presently Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. A despot who once tested blood cannot be normal; he will continue to get more and more ferocious as he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Godswill Akpabio, has gone beyond this. To say that Akpabio needs a rehabilitation centre or remand home, is making an understatement. Calling Yahoo to sanction all the groups that criticize his killing of innocent people in Akwa Ibom State and beyond through his killer squad in street cloths and uniform men, and mere perceived enemies, is more than meet the eyes. No other time has been so ripe than this. Never fail to brace up for the challenge. It must be fired from all cylinders to bring down the monster. You must do this to ‘send the dragon to where it belongs’. Remember Raskimono? These guys know that all these their tricks are a failure. It will not work at all. Since 2010 yahoo is yet shoot its bullet to these forums that protect human lives from the dragon mouth of Godswill Akpabio. These forums have helped saved a lot of lives; and so shall it continue to do. Can you see? This is the very forum that some of them come with fake and phony names to spread the falsehood of their pay master, arsonist and murderer.I have been saying that they make this to deceive and lure Akpabio into giving them a job; and have succeeded in getting it by all means. So what else? Yahoo is a constituent of people who use their brains to think. And I can assure you, they are looking at this issue, they know that Akpabio is killer. Yahoo should Google the name of Godswill Akpabio, it will see how psychopathic sycophants have done their best in praising him, but it will also see massive abuse of office, violation of human right, and degrading treatments that Akpabio has meted out to many unarmed civilians, including children. It will see hundreds of lives that Akpabio has wasted in a land that there is no civil war or civil unrest; except that Akpabio has turned the once most peaceful state of the Niger Delta to a mind field and death traps.

Since they are calling on US FBI to join the Nigeria SSS for investigation, this should be a welcomed development. This is the time for justice to begin fish out Akpabio and his gang of terrorists. Ever wonder why more than five thousand Akwa Ibom people have fled their state to different states and countries seeking refuge here and there? Those who don’t have the ability flee, remain and get killed.

Keep on the good fight for your people.

27th October 2011

Your Excellences, Mr. Senate President and The Hon. Speaker

House of Representatives

Let me crave your indulgence to address you on the above topic in my capacity as a tax payer and bonafide citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In 2009 when our President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alhaji Umaru Yar’dua became incapacitated by illness, the issue of vacuum was resolved through what is now known as the doctrine of necessity through which the Vice President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan became acting President and Commander in Chief of Armed Federal Republic of Nigeria.

May I also recall that the event that led to the manipulated impeachment of former Governor of Bayelsa State Dr. D. S. P Alagmehsia by the Obasanjo Presidency in addition to state of emergency declared in Plateau and Ektit States by that regime.

My belief is that those actions were taken to launder the national image at a time there was a need to do so. Right now, Nigeria is in more desperate position as it is deep in the mud water of corruption and other anti democratic tendencies.

I wish to draw your attention to what is happening in the 21st state of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State, otherwise known as The Land of Promise. The present regime ruling the state came into existence by fraud and corruption and has no accountability to the people. This is manifested in the exhibition of total impunity and recklessness.

Governor Godswill O. Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State does not understand the Federal Government Procurement Act and to him the due process theory belongs to the winds. Bills of quantities used in construction in the state are probably copied from the astral world as 1 kilometer of road is estimated and fixed between N1b and N3b Naira.

When Mr. President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in his maiden visit to Gombe state 2009 he observed and remarked that the Governor of that State Danjuma Goje was very prudent in management of resources of that state. He openly announced that Federal Procurement Officers may be sent to learn from the State. Mr. President was particularly excited by the cost effectiveness on projects like the Airport and the Banquet Hall of the Government House. The Airport project was put at …… while the Banquet Hall consumed N1.3 Billion Naira. Mr. President did not know that in Akwa Ibom State the Government House built at the cost of N7.4 Billion Naira in 2008 to 2009 also added a Banquet Hall in the 2010 Budget at cost of N10 Billion Naira. Today Akwa Ibom State Government House Complex is worth N17.4 Billion Naira and must be the only of its kind in Africa.

Your Excellences let me reproduce for your perusal a part of the corruption index I wrote and sent to the Presidency on the 6th Day of September 2010. It covers a period of January 2008 to June 2009 taken as a case study. A comprehensive review and auditing will reveal that most of the awards upon which mobilization of anything from 30 to 100% were mostly scams. They should be made to publish the status of those jobs that earned 100% in the last four and the half years. They should be made to identify all vehicles purchased during the period. It is noticeable that vehicles are not ordered in the terms of their makes, units and quantities.

All the contracts recorded against the Hon. Commissioner for Works and Transport should be made public in complete details including all those that were mobilized 100% at the first instant.

On Akwa Ibom International Airport Project, which was re-awarded to Alcon Ltd. by Governor Akpabio, there is need to explain the exact job the new outfit did for $150,000,000 in addition to the 80% contract value already paid for by immediate past administration in the State. More so, when the contractor on the runway has not been changed.

Who owns the following companies, PROD GLOBAL LIMITED, CHINTO TECHNOLGIES LIMITED and OAK MOTORS? Please check also the date and the frequencies against each contract award on the enclosed table. The mind bugling revelations therein will be difficult to comprehend.

The highlight shows that the Hon. Commissioner of Works and Transport awarded contract at alarming rate directly to himself and the operating companies are run by his elder brother. Information including bank accounts and the account officers in various banks have been made available to relevant agencies including the anti-graft agencies. Unfortunately, nothing came out of the exercise.

Please find enclosed table for total details.

Recently, association of quantity surveyors of Nigeria cried out at the outrageous contract costs in the country and called for actual valuation of roads and other constructions in the country. There is no doubt that Akwa Ibom in particular is their reference point.

Your Excellences, in Akwa Ibom State Project are mostly designed for the purpose of siphoning our resources to align the pocket of the Governor, his family members and cronies. Today, there is no Akpabio either by birth or marriage that has not joined the league of Billionaires. Media houses are heavily hired to sing the song of massive infrastructural development. Sycophancy is reaping the highest harvest in Akwa Ibom State. This is the picture of lootocracy and kleptocracy on exhibition in our State. It is more than a calamity.

Recently the House of Representatives rejected supplementary appropriation bill of N96 Billion Naira for the remaining part of the financial year from the Presidency. The reason for the rejection was for non inclusion of details regarding the actual implementation of the whole Budget.

Your Excellences, as I write this letter the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly are busy rubberstamping a whooping N94,000,000,000.00 supplementary estimate for road construction and payment of salaries for the remaining 2 months of the year 2011. The roads in question are mostly Federal roads including the dualization of Uyo – Ekot Ekpene – Ekot Umoessin to Aba in Abia State, covering a distance about 50 kilometers, Oron Ibaka, Ini to Ikono road among others.

It is doubtful whether any information to warrant such an extravagant spending when the financial year is almost ending is available. This represents the level of inferiority and ineptitude the State House of Assembly.

Currently, the Federal Government and Lagos State Government are having serious friction over who should rehabilitate/construct the Lagos Ibadan Express way.

If Nigeria is not a country of double standard, is it possible an act of this nature could be tolerated? Thus the misapplication of public fund not amount to financial indiscipline and abuse of office?

Form the mouths of Mr. President and Senior Federal Government Officials have clearly stated that any State Government who undertakes building of Federal roads shall be compensated at the standard rate for a single lane whenever they are ready to make such refunds. In other words, dualizations and expansions shall be deemed illegal. If this is the position, is the Federal Government not encouraging fraud and corruption as well as guilty of complicity against the people of Akwa Ibom State? The much publicized war against corruption, where is it being fought from? How does the International Community see this Giant of Africa when people like Godswill Akpabio are given the free hand to destroy and loot away the collective destiny of Akwa Ibom people through massive fraud and corruption?

Your Excellences, personally, the recent statement by our President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to the effect that he was not a General, Lion, or a Pharaoh, to say the least, was not only disappointing, but very embarrassing.

Please Sirs, when next you meet our President tell him that apart from the fact that we need much more, we expecting him to be a Moses. A leader, who was trained in the best tradition and education of the Egyptian Empire, remained a mould and decoy of God and eventually manifested supremely in the emancipation of Israelites from the land of bondage. We certainly need a Moses.

Your Excellences, in addition to the issue of corruption we cannot ignore the case of terrorism and insecurity created in the State by Governor Godswill Akpabio and his government. The recent landmark judgment from two separate High Court of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in respect of State sponsored crimes and subsequent frame up of innocent persons for the same crime. Rivers and Bayelsa State have been exposed to be their breeding ground for terrorist, murders, assassins and kidnappers. This is perhaps why Akpabio as a con man has been accusing neighboring state of harboring the bandits.

May I refer you to two judgment mentioned above;

I enclosed here with certified true copies of the two judgments for your perusal.

In the recent report on the Federal Government Administrative panel on pre and after election violence headed by Hon. Justice N. Aremu, Akwa Ibom State has been indicted. The report, inter alia commented on the sophisticated weapons used in the Akwa Ibom for the violence, whereas those used in the North were mere local items such as knife, machetes, bottles and other minor weapons, the Akwa Ibom action involved weapons such as Ak 47, Machine guns and Grenades among others.

The judgment mentioned above has already showed that the Honorable Commissioner for Works and Transport is the State arms and ammunitions coordinator for the Governor. He is the head of “the Peace House”, the killer squad of the Governor.

Finally Your Excellences I see the National Assembly as the supreme authority with relevant oversight functions to properly fix this Nation for us, our children and posterity. You cannot afford to be indifferent when people like Godswill Akpabio are with impunity making nonsense of the rule of Law and Order as well as general recklessness. To do otherwise will see you as Emperor Nero of Rome sleeping while Rome was burning. The Auditor General of the Federation has already indicted the National Assembly for encouraging corruption in Nigeria.

Do something.

Thank you

Ime T. Mbatessien
